ABOUT

DESIGN ROOTED IN TRADITIONAL CRAFT SKILL BUT ENTIRELY MODERN IN ITS INTERPRETATION

Hinchcliffe & Barber create decorative. functional and authentic designs for the home.

Established in Dorset in 1980 by painter Wendy Barber and textile designer John Hinchcliffe, H&B has grown from its studio pottery beginnings to become a celebrated international craft-based lifestyle brand.

After many years designing for the industry including the first ceramic collection for the Next Directory, John and Wendy became renowned for their ceramic and textiles collections and their bold and simple approach to pattern application (documented in their two books Print Style and Ceramic Style). The brand has the ability to transcend homeware trends, from traditional English home to contemporary modern living.

In 2014, following John Hinchcliffe's death four years earlier, John and Wendy's daughter, Georgia Hinchcliffe, joined the brand. In the past few years, H&B have focused on licensing their large archive of designs, once again achieving commercial success with major high street retailers, online, via social media and winning the Giftware Association's Gift of the Year 2015 with their Songbird range.
