'I paint flowers to experience them, really looking at them, recording the mood and atmosphere, before being ready to pick up the brush. I find that once chosen and placed in the studio the flowers effect the atmosphere in the room. At that point I'm excited to get it all down on the canvas. As the flowers change I need to collect another canvas and collect the subtle changes - this explains the series of paintings per collection.'​
